Fathoms Bar & Grille, located in historic New Bedford, Massachusetts, is owned and operated by boat captain, local businessman and entrepreneur Lars Vinjerud II and his wife Virginia Vinjerud. Since the 1970s, his fishing career success has brought him to now owning a state-of-the-art seafood facility that processes the fresh native seafood from more than twenty of his own fishing vessels.
Lars’ rich Norwegian & Irish heritage along with his experience has offered him many tastes that world has to offer. Focusing on fresh ingredients, delicious local seafood, excellent cocktails, a vast menu selection and a relaxed waterfront environment, nautically-named Fathoms Bar & Grille is Lars’ unique way of sharing his experiences with all patrons.
At the helm of the kitchen is New Bedford native Chris Bentley, who is sure to dazzle your taste buds, leave your belly full and keep you coming back for more. The chef offers unique seafood entrees and appetizers everyday as well as delicious land-lover fare. Chef Bentley visits OceansFleet Fisheries daily to obtain the freshly-caught seafood that will be used to prepare each order at the restaurant. With the owners being fans of the sea, it is important that they offer their patrons to visit not only by automobile, but also by boat. Thus, Fathoms offers a 60 ft. floating dock where customers may tie up to enjoy a refreshing beverage or delectable meal. During the warmer months of New England, all customers are welcome to sit out on our enclosed outside deck to see the beautiful sunset on the waterfront.
